Dear Families,
Next week is Literacy Week at Morley! We will be participating in many literacy activities throughout the week such as “Drop Everything and Read, Guest Readers, Flashlight Buddy Reading in the gym…etc.
Monday January 23rd – Drop Everything and Read – the whole school will be reading together in the hallways at 1pm.
Tuesday, January 24th-“Wear Words Day.” Students are welcome to wear clothing that has appropriate words on it.
Wednesday, January 25th-“Flashlight Reading in the Dark.” Students are welcome to bring flashlights from home to use to read with their big buddies.
Thursday, January 26th-“Family Bingo” cards due. Family Bingo cards were sent home on Thursday and need to be completed, signed and returned if your family wishes to participate. Students will receive a small prize if they complete 5 activities or be entered to win a large prize for completing 10 activities.
Friday, January 27th-Families are invited to join us for reading time from 8:45-9:15 am in our classroom. Come and read with your child and others for the first 30 minutes of the day.
This week we have been learning about hibernation and migration. We learned about bears hibernating through the winter and then drew pictures of what we like to do in the winter. We also completed two art pieces that are displayed on our bulletin board in the hallway. A painting of our family and a self-portrait.
We continue to make our way though the alphabet. We have begun a phonics program that is helping us understand that letters make sounds and that sounds put together make words. We watched a Super Why video as a way to help us understand this tricky concept. I have attached the video if your child wants to watch it again.
Have a great weekend.
❤
