Three activities for you this week
Activity #1: Peter and the Wolf part 2
Let’s continue part 2 of the Story of Peter and the Wolf by clicking here: https://musicplayonline.com/modules/peter-and-the-wolf-2-the-cat-grandfather-wolf/
Make sure you watch and listen to the sound maps and the videos of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra playing the instrument that represents each of these characters. I love the cat sound map the best because it reminds me of my cat Bandit stalking bugs in the grass!
Activity #2: Hop Old Squirrel
Click on the link below and go to song #17 – Hop Old Squirrel… My dog Tika is crazy about squirrels and loves to chase them! Here she is playing with her favourite squirrel stuffie…

Click on the video and sing along – you fill in the missing action on the second verse. Think about what squirrels love to do – jump, scurry, eat, climb – try your own ideas!
Hop old squirrel, eidledum, eidledum, Hop old squirrel, eidledum dee
__________ old squirrel, eidledum, eidledum, __________ old squirrel eidledum dee
Fly old squirrel, eidledum, eidledum, Fly old squirrel, eidledum dee
Activity #3: Write Your Own Song Lyrics – We Can Make a Difference
Now that you’ve added your own ideas to Hop Old Squirrel, you have the idea of adding your own words to a song. For this next activity, you’ll need Mom or Dad’s help (or an older sibling). Under the grade 2/3 tab on my homepage, go to Week 3 Activities and you can listen to my video lesson on writing new words to a Canadian folk song. The idea is that things are very different now, but we can all make a difference if we stay at home. I would love to hear your ideas on this project as well!
