Week one is under our belts!

Please note that the Community Task has been uploaded as well as a Division 11 Memory Book for the end of year under the Theme Based Learning tab.  Although everyone has access to all the booklet, please make a note of the pages we will be completing at school. You can pick and chose from the rest of the pages to make the booklet more interesting.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Remember: Zoom meeting Monday @ 11:15am.

June 3rd, 2020

Hello Families,

We are pleased to say that our first two days of in school classes went well.  It was nice to see our students face to face.  Although a very different way of learning once again, we think the students enjoyed themselves despite the extensive hand washing.   We will be having our next formal Zoom meeting on Monday, June 8th at 11:15.   I will be starting a read aloud, The One and Only Ivan .  Thursday, June 4th at 11:30, we will be having a trial run to see if the technology will work from within the classroom.  Feel free to join, to see how different the classroom looks.  It will be very short.  We will simply say hello and show you around the classroom.

The Word Sorts, Community Tasks and Math lessons have all been updated for this week.  Word Sorts and Math lessons will be updated on Wednesdays from now on and Community Tasks will continue to be posted on Fridays.

Thank you once again for your continued support,

Ms Gauthier/Ms Paulich

Photo Gallery/Spelling

Hello Families,

A quick note to let you know, I’ve added photo galleries of the work you have sent me.  I have not had a chance to post all of them but will continue to do it going forward.

Spelling Sorts have been added for the week.  My apologies to the Pink Group as last week’s sort did not match the explanation.  It has been fixed.

Let us know if there is anything we can do.  Looking forward to our video conference on Friday.  I’ve updated my camera driver so things should go smoother.  Fingers crossed and knocking on wood! Lol.

New Spelling Sort Uploaded

Hello Families,

Just letting you know that we have updated the new spelling sorts for this week with the explanations.  Let us know if you have any questions.

We have also added a link to YMCA at Home in the Bookmark list.  This is a free service the YMCA is offering.  It has a lot of good ideas for activities for Arts and Craft as well as short workouts to keep students active at home.  If you like this site please subscribe as this is how they will continue to provide free programming over the course of the pandemic.

Under the reading tab we have added a template for book reports if your child is interested in documenting books read during this time at home as well to the link to Epic Books if needed.

Stay safe, be kind,
Ms Gauthier/Ms Paulich

Learning Activity #3: April 16th – April 23rd   Digital Citizenship

Seeing that our virtual classroom is using technology in many ways, we thought that spending time on Digital Citizenship this week might be appropriate.  Please see Community Learning Tasks tab for the link.  In order to accommodate some parents, documents are being shared as PDFs.  This is new to me so please let me know if the links work.

We thought we would also pass along these parental control tutorials for your child’s device  Parental Controls .  These demonstrate how to control your child’s device ie. Stop internet access after a certain time or during meals, limit sites the device can use and other regular parental controls.  Please let us know if this document is helpful.  If yes, we will share on the Gilmore School website.

Marianna and I would like to take this time to thank you for your feedback.  It allows us to take a look at our practice and edit and change as we go.  Your kindness and continued support is greatly appreciated at this time.  Keep that feedback coming!

Ms Gauthier/Ms Paulich

First Math Task

Hello Families,

We have added a new Math task up on the Math tab.  Please peruse and complete when you have a chance.  It has a short video to watch and some printable worksheets.  We will be beginning multiplication (gr. 3) and practicing our skip counting which is a foundation to multiplication (gr. 2).  Feel free to do all or some of the activities. Please ensure you are finding the right fit for your family.

We also wanted to let you know that we are working on finding ways Division 11 students can come together as a class or at least small groups at a time.  We know that we all miss face to face interactions and it is an important part of being together.  We will keep you informed once we have figured out what this may look like.

Lastly, as you can see we  have moved to a blog format.  Our thinking is to have all the information organized in one place.  Please email us some feedback if this is a platform that works for you or if you would prefer email or a combination.

Slowly flattening our technology learning curve… Lol.

Ms Gauthier/Ms Paulich

Hello Families

We have created this blog in an attempt to find everything you may need in one place.  This is just the beginning and I hope to add things and organize in a user friendly way as time passes.

I understand that as a new post comes up you will be getting a notification by email.  Please let me know if this is not the case.

Welcome to Division 11’s blog!
