Serena Williams

During the 2010 Australian Open women’s final, after losing the second set to her arch-rival Justine Henin and facing a third set onslaught of power and finesse, Serena Williams turned away from the court and starting talking to herself – the on-court mics picked up what she said:

Serena then turned around, got her head back in the game, and won the championship.

Five years later, she did it again, with an ace on match point against Maria Sharapova, after her first ace had been ruled a let:

“At the end, I switched things rather than doing the same old thing.  That helped me a lot. If Plan A isn’t working, I have Plan B, Plan C and even Plan D.”
