{"id":773,"date":"2016-03-06T02:37:17","date_gmt":"2016-03-06T02:37:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/deterraa\/?p=773"},"modified":"2016-03-06T03:08:11","modified_gmt":"2016-03-06T03:08:11","slug":"congratulations-to-science-games-participants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/deterraa\/2016\/03\/06\/congratulations-to-science-games-participants\/","title":{"rendered":"Congratulations to Science Games Participants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Congratulations to all of the Science Games participants who went to Science World today to compete!<\/strong> And thank you to all the parents who stayed as spectators, and <strong>a BIG THANK YOU to Naomi&#8217;s mom Sandy<\/strong>, who served as a team leader along with Ms. D and accompanied a team around to their events.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Ice Quakers<\/strong> <\/span>(Michael, Vlad, Emma, David, Henry) created a vibrating diorama of an earthquake disaster, while <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Lava Power<\/strong> <\/span>(Brian, Ella, Naomi, Kane, Ryan) constructed a working volcano. Both teams did a great job answering judges&#8217; questions, made creative rockets for the paper rocket challenge, and used their thinking skills to break the code during the color coding (patterns\/computer coding-related) competition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Congratulations for all of your hard work!<\/strong> Everyone received a certificate of participation and some cool gifts from the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists (APEG) who run this event every year.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><em><b>Special Congrats<\/b> <strong>to Ice Quakers for winning the overall Gold Medal<\/strong><\/em><\/span>, placing 1st out of 16 teams competing this year from around the Lower Mainland in grades 4-7.
