Hello!<\/p>\n

As part of our French studies, students will do a mini poster on a French-speaking country of their choice.<\/p>\n

First Step:<\/strong> Research<\/strong><\/p>\n

In their journals, students need to find out:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. \u00a0Where is the country?<\/li>\n
  2. \u00a0How big is the country and how many people live there?<\/li>\n
  3. \u00a0What is the country like? What is the topography\u00a0 or land like? Major rivers, mountains, forests, deserts? Are they next to any major bodies of water?<\/li>\n
  4. \u00a0Which countries border this country?<\/li>\n
  5. \u00a0How did this country come to speak French? (history)<\/li>\n
  6. \u00a0What kinds of foods does this country eat? Any French ones?<\/li>\n
  7. \u00a0What kinds of resources does this country produce or sell?<\/li>\n
  8. \u00a0Are there any traditions this country is known for? Festivals?<\/li>\n
  9. \u00a0What are some of the major cities in the country?<\/li>\n
  10. \u00a0Any other interesting facts about this country you could share?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Step Two:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Find the French<\/strong><\/p>\n

    You will label what you can for your poster in French. Find them online.<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. \u00a0Names of oceans and bordering countries? Do in French.<\/li>\n
    2. \u00a0Name of your country and its cities. Do in French.<\/li>\n
    3. \u00a0Names of mountain ranges and bodies of water in the country, in French.<\/li>\n
    4. \u00a0Items the country is known for – food, festivals, etc. find what you can in French.<\/li>\n
    5. \u00a0Single vocabulary words are fine. No sentences needed.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Step Three: Plan the Poster<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Using their drawing books, students need to make a sketch of what the poster will be like.<\/p>\n

        \n
      1. The poster needs to be filled with a map outline of the country, surrounded by any oceans or other countries that border it.<\/li>\n
      2. \u00a0The countries and oceans bordering the country can be labeled with a single name in French and coloured.<\/li>\n
      3. \u00a0The country for the poster needs to have more detail – so if my country is France, it will be in the middle of the poster with mountains, rivers, cities on it, coloured, and labeled in French.<\/li>\n
      4. \u00a0Around the map will be blank space left for facts, words, and mini pictures that represent the research the student found, and they will be labeled in French and coloured.<\/li>\n
      5. Labels need to be fine lined.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Criteria:<\/strong><\/p>\n

          \n
        1. \u00a0Show research in journal for the project, and include information in all the categories given above.<\/li>\n
        2. \u00a0Labeled correctly in French as per directions.<\/li>\n
        3. \u00a0Coloured, neat, and easy to read. Aesthetic and well-planned. Spaced out nicely so we can read everything. Use a ruler.<\/li>\n
        4. \u00a0Fine line words.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
