{"id":3559,"date":"2018-01-09T08:47:44","date_gmt":"2018-01-09T16:47:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/deterraa\/?p=3559"},"modified":"2018-01-09T08:47:44","modified_gmt":"2018-01-09T16:47:44","slug":"commentary-powerpoint-on-machines-and-technology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/deterraa\/2018\/01\/09\/commentary-powerpoint-on-machines-and-technology\/","title":{"rendered":"Commentary PowerPoint on Machines and Technology"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello Everyone!<\/p>\n<p>Today I have passed out a handout and rubric for your end-of-unit assignment to create a PowerPoint slideshow about the machine or technology you believe has been the most influential on humanity and the world.<\/p>\n<p>During this project you will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Create a minimum of 10 separate slides (not including your title or citations page at the end) to answer the questions provided below.<\/li>\n<li>You need to discuss the positive and negative impacts of your machine or technology on humans and the world. Be specific.<\/li>\n<li>Each slide should have a subtitle at the top, a picture, and a one sentence comment at the bottom that will give us an idea of your commentary about the machine or technology. It is a good idea to make the subtitles match the questions I have asked you to answer.<\/li>\n<li>On separate paper, or in the notes section of the PowerPoint, create commentary for each slide that you can use to make a presentation during the slideshow.<\/li>\n<li>Write commentary that answers the questions.<\/li>\n<li>Provide copies of your notes, your PowerPoint, and your commentary to the teacher in Google Drive.<\/li>\n<li>Practice saying the commentary out loud so you can present it to the class.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Questions you need to answer. Use these to guide your notes.:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What is the machine or technology you plan to discuss?<\/li>\n<li>How is this machine or technology used?&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>How does the machine or technology work?<\/li>\n<li>When was the machine or technology invented? What is its history?<\/li>\n<li>Why is this machine or technology the MOST influential on humanity and the world?<\/li>\n<li>What are the positive impacts of this machine or technology?<\/li>\n<li>What are the negative impacts of this machine or technology?<\/li>\n<li>What is a summary of your key points on why this machine or technology is the most influential?<\/li>\n<li>What is your bibliography of resources?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Do use:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Persuasive language to convince us this machine or technology is the MOST influential<\/li>\n<li>Pictures that show you did some research<\/li>\n<li>Captions under pictures to tell me what the picture is<\/li>\n<li>Specific facts about where the machine or technology comes from that show some effort and research<\/li>\n<li>Proper C.O.P.S. throughout the presentation<\/li>\n<li>Basic transitions<\/li>\n<li>One sentence of text<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please do not use:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Emoticons. At all.<\/li>\n<li>Cartoon pictures.<\/li>\n<li>Lots of text. Follow instructions. Only one sentence please.<\/li>\n<li>Fancy transitions that increase the overall time of the slideshow, as they are not needed<\/li>\n<li>Pictures from Google that have nothing to do with your topic<\/li>\n<li>Pictures that have any copyright symbols or writing on them<\/li>\n<li>Goodbye slides. If you want a slide at the end, simply say &#8220;Thank you and Questions?&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Black, red, neon colours that are hard to look at<\/li>\n<li>Tiny fonts no one can read<\/li>\n<li>Jokes in the middle of your PowerPoint.
