Gr. 6/7

Term 3 beginner activities for Gr. 6/7

Here are three activities that can be done from home:

  1. If you have a guitar or ukulele at home, can you remember three of the chords that we have been using this year? Can you make your own chord progression using the three chords, with a specific number of strums for each chord in a repeatable pattern?
  2. Can you pick one of the decades covered in our school concert (1930s-2000s) and research pop music of North America from the decade along with key events that happened in the world during this decade? Can you write about the style or styles of music that were most popular in this decade, key events that happened in the world in this decade, and suggests ways that the music was influenced by what was happening in the world at the time?
  3. Can you write about one of your favourite songs and why it’s one of your favourite songs? Can you talk about elements of music such as pitch (high/low), tempo (fast/slow), dynamics (loud/soft), and what message the songwriter has tried to express through the song?
