Visualizing refers to our ability to create pictures in our heads based on text we read or words we hear. It is one of the many skills that makes reading comprehension possible. After they have drawn their picture have them listen to the poem again. Grade 1s could also try reading the poem after listening to it twice.

For those that are feeling brave and have all the necessary materials try making an ice cream cone with puffy paint. Cut out a triangle for the cone from construction paper and glue to a background. Mix up 2 batches of shaving cream puffy paint by mixing equal parts shaving cream and white glue. You can leave the paint white or dye it with of few drops of colour. Paint one or two scoops and add in real sprinkles while the paint is still wet. Add a cherry on top if you’d like. If you don’t have the materials needed you could try making a cone out of paper and then using a balloon or ball as the ice cream scoop. What games can you play with it? Pass the ice cream scoop, an ice cream relay? Teach the game to your family.
Father’s Day Project: Paint a Rock. “My Daddy Rocks…”

Friday June 19th 2020
Morning Message: Good morning everybody. Today is Friday June 19th 2020. Can you guess my letter? I am a vowel, I am the fifth letter in the alphabet, and I am between the letters Dd and Ff. What letter am I? (Ee) Can you make a letter riddle for me?
Literacy
Writing: Have you ever heard of a tongue twister? Here are a few examples: “She sells seashells by the seashore” and “Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.” Try saying these nice and slow first and then try it fast. Were you able to do it? Do you notice anything about these tongue twisters? Look at the first letter of each word. These are examples of alliteration. Wow that’s a big word! Alliteration happens when words that start with the same sound (not just the same letter) are used repeatedly in a phrase or sentence. Here is another example “Paula planted the pretty pink poppies in the pot.” Can you find any other tongue twisters to practice? Have a listen to this song about alliteration: Alliteration Song Your job is to come up with a new ice cream flavour using your name, a describing word, and then a food that all start with the first letter in your name. So for example: My favourtie ice cream is green tea. Mr. Chin’s favourite ice cream is Boba Bar; Brown Sugar ice cream bar and Adrian loves it too. Avery loves strawberry and vanilla. You can even make ice cream flavours using your family member’s names too. Ms. Yu’s favourite ice cream is banana cream pie. Mrs. Shaennen’s favourite ice cream is chocolate. Here is a silly poem about some interesting ice cream flavours. Maybe it will give you an idea. Watch for some alliteration too! Bleezer’s Ice Cream (sheet is on the next page)
My new ice cream flavour is_________________________________________
_____________________________________________________________.
This is an alliteration as you can see all my words start with the letter__________.
Reading: “How to make ice cream.” Grade 1s please read this section under Special Activity to an adult and kindergartens please ask an adult to read it to you.
Raz Kids – Have you read today? Have you done a recording?

Remember we always start at the bottom when we fill out a graph.
