Dear Division 11 Friends and Families,
What an incredible week of remote learning we have had together this week. We have been able to make learning together at home fun, meaningful and exciting. This week I received many great stories from your home story workshop studios. Some stories were told orally, some with puppets, some painted, some drawn on paper, some typed out, some written down (scribed), some created with loose parts and some with various household objects. They were all so unique and it was fun to see your child’s creativity with creating settings and a few of you had a beginning, middle and an end to your story. Everyone remembered to give a title to their story! A few of the titles were Fairlyland and The Man who Could do a Handstand. I love all the stories!
The All About Me Silhouettes and videos were so much fun to see. Please check out the gallery to see what your friends like! I’ve also put up a few of the student videos. Thank you for sharing and being a ‘good audience’. Some of you might be able to make some connections. It was so nice to see some of the children take a risk and write a few words and a few sentences. I loved seeing some of your child’s writing! I absolutely enjoyed learning more about your child’s interests and hobbies. This week in our conversations, it sounded like you are all loving the many activities offered. The Earth day song, “This is our World” is one of my favourite songs! The videos, science activities, experiments and learning about shapes along with some new math activities going for nature walks and taking breaks was nice to hear.
I’m super excited about RAZ kids! Thank you again to Ms. Pavic for signing us all on. Listen, Read and do a Quiz. Please have your child record themselves! Look for the microphone either in the top middle of the screen (computer/laptop/online version) or right side of the screen (iPad). Mr. Leach has read some amazing stories and you can check him out in our section Stories with Mrs. Chin. Ms. Field, our librarian read yet another fabulous story. Her story reminded me of friendship and I am so lucky to have so many Montecito Parents and Staff as friends. The messages in the stories read are making me reflect our special bond together. Speaking of friends, Mr. Smith will be offering Music Class through Zoom this upcoming Thursday at 1:00pm. That means you will all be able to see your FRIENDS from our class soon! Parents and students will need to go to Zoom online (no account needed) and click on ” join a meeting”, which is written in blue at the top of the page. From there you will put in the Meeting ID number and click Join. We will send you the Meeting ID number via email before next Thursday! I love starting our mornings off with Morning Messages. I wonder who the guest staff announcers will be this week.
