At school, we do things to take care of our heart, mind, body and each other everyday! You can do things at home with your families to take care of your heart, mind, body and each other too!
Gratitude Stone: Do you remember when we pass the Gratitude Stone around the circle and share something that we feel grateful for? Consider finding a special stone when you are out for a walk and using that as your Gratitude Stone. You can hold it in your hand and tell something you feel grateful for. Maybe your family would like to pass the Gratitude Stone around the table at dinner time!
“When we make the expression of gratitude a regular practice…we train our brain to shift to a more positive mindset more efficiently and maintain a healthier, more optimistic perspective” –Mindup
Mindful Breathing: Maybe you have some sort of chime at home and maybe not. That is okay because you can still do mindful breathing at home. You can teach your family too! There are also some GoNoodle activities that help us to do mindful breathing in different ways. Do you remember Rainbow Breathing and Bunny Breathing from Go Noodle? Check it out and see what else you can find!
Have you Filled a Bucket Today? When you fill someone else’s bucket, you also fill your own bucket too! When you dip into someone’s bucket, you also dip into your bucket. What can you do to fill your mom or dad’s bucket or your sister or brother’s bucket? How could you fill someone’s bucket who you are unable to visit right now? When we share kindness with others, kindness grows and grows and grows!
Cosmic Yoga: Yoga is a wonderful way to calm your body as well as to stretch and strengthen your muscles and improve your balance. It can help you to move your feelings into the green box and get your body ready for learning. It is lots of fun too, of course!
Move your body! Get active everyday! If you are able to go outside safely, head outside to walk, run, jump, skip and breathe in the fresh air! If you need to stay inside, try one of these:
- GoNoodle
- Cosmic Yoga
- PE with Joe
- Active for Life
- Have a dance Dance Party in your living room!
