Good afternoon families,
It has been brought to my attention that I did not inform you all of how to login to your child’s blogfolio, I sincerely apologize. When you get a notification, to see your child’s account your username is the first part of your email before the @ symbol. For example, my username would be: sarah.binns. Then your password is parent2000. When you login, please change your password.
Please send me an email if you are having problems.
Good afternoon families,
Tomorrow morning we will be attending a winter concert at Burnaby South. We are asking that students are here by 8:45 so that we can start walking by 9am. We will be returning to the school before lunch, then going out for the jingle bell walk in the afternoon. Please make sure that the child in your home is dressed warmly and please make sure that you initial the message in your child’s agenda.
Have a great evening,
Good Afternoon Families,
I am looking forward to having you all in this classroom to see all that these students have been working so incredibly hard for, day in and day out.
During a one hour period, your child will be walking you through all that they are proud of and all that they have been doing. During this time, I will have you come and have a conversation with me regarding the report of their understanding and the parent comment on this report.
If you have not received the time of your child’s time slot, please send me an email so that we can make a decision on the time.
Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to involve yourself in your child’s learning and this incredibly valuable time.
Ms. Sarah Binns
The whole group is reading peacefully together in their seats.
Reading isn’t the only thing that goes on during DEAR day…
Well, the good thing is that DEAR day is the only day where everyone really gets to unwind from all the noise.
Even the teachers get to take a break every once in a while!
Here’s another group reading outside, with a nice breeze and even some comfy leaves to sit on!
And here are some students reading their books alongside their friends from Div. 1.
Here is JM reading on the beanbag chair. Hopefully she’s enjoying her book!
And last but not least, we have Jeevan and Alessandra reading their books in the classroom.
DEAR day really was a great experience for the whole school!
As children we have the right to an education. We know we are also privileged because not everyone has this right. We love getting to choose what we read and dive right into the book. We learned today that reading 65 minutes every day means that we will see 4.3 million words every year and increase our success in all subject areas. In comparison reading 10 minutes/ day means we will only see 603 000 words per year and we will not see as much success in all subjects. Reading is for everyone.
