Scavenger Hunt Deer Lake Park

Dear Families of Grade 6/7 Students,

Our UHE grade 6/7s will be visiting Deer Lake Park for a Nature Scavenger Hunt on Tuesday, September 24. During their visit, they will be following the walking path around the lake to solve the Scavenger Hunt questions that will be related to identifying both indigenous and non-indigenous plants and animals.  There will also be parent volunteers supporting/supervising the students as they do this activity.  This is meant to be an opportunity for students to get to know some of the amazing natural flora and fauna that can be found in their own backyards, but also as a chance for the three grade 6/7 classes to work together and do some problem solving.

Students will come to school at UHE as they usually do, and we will depart for Deer Lake Park at 9:10 am. We will travel together on public transit. We will return to University Highlands around 3pm, but may be a little late, so please make note of that if your child is responsible for picking up a sibling, etc.  Please bring weather appropriate clothing (we will be going rain or shine) and a recess snack and lunch.  Also, if your child has a compass card please bring it as well.

Please look for a permission form in your child’s backpack today afterschool.  We would like to receive the signed permission form back by this Thursday, September 19th.
