A Tribe Called Quest – 1nce Again (feat. Tammy Lucas)

This song is great, I can’t believe I haven’t heard it before. I really enjoy the opening call and response that starts at 0:07, because it plays homage to a similar chant on their classic track “Check the Rhime.” Tammy Lucas’ smooth vocals add a fresh, new R&B flavour quite different from Tribe’s earlier pieces. However, I appreciate that the core of the track is still rooted in their hip-hop beginnings.

Diana Ross and The Supremes: Reflections

This music piece is different due to the beginning having an electrical beat and having the audio going left to right, (recommended to listen with headphones). Through the song it has those tiny eerie electro beats with a very high frequency, but this song has a nice upbeat tone going. Going from a calm to a upbeat melody.

Erykah Badu

Erykah Badu is one of my favourite women in the world. She is a one of the most famous neo-soul artists as well as Maxwell, D’angelo, and Jill Scott. Her music is influenced by R&B, soul, and, hiphop. She usually sings on looped beats. What I like from her music is that they never get old. Her vocal has old-school vibes but never sounds old.

This is the collaboration of Erykah Badu and Robert Glasper who is also my favourite musician.
