The Internet – Roll (Burbank Funk)

I really like the layered background vocals in this song (around 1:30) and the funky bass paired with the off beat egg shakers makes this song very catchy. The main vocals are balanced out really well and with all the instrumental happening in the background, at first I thought the song was a little bit crowded but after listening to it a couple times I noticed how all the instrumental and percussion compliment each other really well.

Nathanie – Sunscreen

This song is beautiful, the chord progression mixed with the sweetness of her voice is perfect. She also did an amazing job balancing out the harmonies, they are just the right amount and it makes it so calming to listen too.  Theres also a really faint percussion that sounds like a wood block that sounds amazing.

Tom Waits – Rain Dogs

This song has a really cool accordion intro that I was not expecting, then goes straight into this sea shanty vibe with the repetition in the guitar melodies and tambourine.  I also really like the raspiness in his voice, it fits really well with the song.

Muse – Stockholm Syndrome

Matt Bellamy really outdid himself on this one, the guitar is so freakishly good and the way his voice is so haunting and smooth it fits amazingly with this song. I really like the contrast between the tension in the rough guitar and the release with the light piano and high harmony background vocals (1:08). I highly recommend listening to this song all the way through because I truly think this is one of Muse’s best songs.

Denise Lasalle – Trapped by a Thing Called Love

I really like the way the song goes from a kind of call and answer concept with the bass and the trumpets specifically in 0:30 and around 1:24 and then brings them together to flow so coherently.  Also the bass and the guitar with the drums carry such a steady melody that reminds me of a train and the trumpets are just the cherry on top that brings this beautiful song together.
