Explanatory paragraphs give information or explains something to the reader.

Here is an example of an Explanatory paragraph,  that explains how we made a dairy-free ice cream volleyball cake at home!

Making An Ice Cream Volleyball Birthday Cake

This is how we made a dairy free ice cream volleyball birthday cake. First of all, warm up a carton of coconut milk ice cream by placing it in a tub of warm water for 15 minutes or until it feels soft. Secondly, scoop out the ice cream and drop it into a small round bowl, until the bowl is full up to the rim. Next, use a large spoon to smooth out the top to make it flat. Then, you can cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place it in the freezer for about one hour, or until it has turned hard and solid. When it’s ready, take it out, open the lid, and flip the bowl upside down onto a plate. Afterwards, place a hot towel over the glass bowl until the ice cream warms up and softens a bit. This is when it will drop onto the plate. Next, quickly place it back into the freezer so that it doesn’t melt. In the meantime, melt some chocolate in the microwave. When the ice cream cake is hard and solid again, take it out of the freezer and use the melted chocolate to decorate it anyway you wish!

We made this dairy free, ice cream cake at home for our daughter, who turned 16 years old.  She loves coconut milk ice cream, chocolate and playing volleyball!
