September 30 – October 4

This week we began thinking about decision-making processes, leading into our study of political systems and the levels of Canadian government.  Since we reached half-way to our class points goal, we practiced our democratic rights and held a vote for what we should do with them – it was a tight race, but students voted to get a betta fish as a class pet!

We also practiced writing and applying expressions to patterns in math, using hand-made “Input-Output Machines” to assist.

We worked in groups to demonstrate prior knowledge of body systems, making life-sized posters of the human body.

In Art, we practiced blind contour drawings of partners, before attempting Self Portraits Drawn With Eyes Closed, following the techniques of art therapist Zoe Bowman, https://www.artofselfcare.ca/.  This was a new challenge for many students, and I was impressed by how open they were to trying a tricky technique!
