Bonjour tout le monde!
On June 23rd, our class along with Division 7 will be walking to MacPherson pool for a loonie swim (this will be covered by PAC funding and will be free for students). Please see the blue permission form sent home this week, sign and return for Monday. If you missed the paper form, please see the pdf version here: MacPherson Loonie Swim permission form Thank you so much to those who have already signed and returned the form!
On Thursday we had our first of three sessions with Young Actors Project! Guest teacher Savannah lead our class through a series of improv activities to stretch our creative muscles, voices, and bodies. Next week, we will have our final two sessions.
We have been writing up a storm working on our folktales. We will be editing these next week, and hopefully writing a few more before the end of the year!
In Science, we learned about carnivores, omnivores, and herbivores. We learned about our animals’ specific diets and in which categories they belong. On Friday afternoon, the class was incredibly focused on completing the pages of their booklets to the best of their abilities and I am so proud of how we have grown as researchers and writers over the year!
In Math, we started a geometry unit with a shape hunt and a shape sort. Students were given many different shapes to categorize. They noticed patterns between the shapes and determined the categories themselves. It was interesting to hear what they noticed in the shapes and the connections they made. We will be learning about two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes over the next weeks.
It is hard to believe we have just over one month left of this school year. I hope you all have a lovely weekend. I look forward to another full week of learning with the students of Division 9!
