Hello everyone!

This week was full of activities! Today was especially energetic, with a witch, three superheroes, warriors, an astronaut, a zombie, an avocado, several adorable animals, a princess, a police officer, Beetlejuice, the Grim Reaper and a skeleton, and many more fascinating creatures spotted in the hallways of Brantford! We visited the haunted house in the library, and viewed the incredible jack-o-lanterns students carved for the contest. They certainly were all impressive – such skill and creativity, Brantford!

In Math, we compared numbers by looking at the value of the thousands, hundreds, tens and ones. We had a place value quiz on Tuesday, with which everyone showed their skills and understanding very well!

We wrote another birthday book for one of our classmates who became an 8-year-old this week!

For art, grammar, and writing, we created wacky monsters! We used a variety of tools to make marks into paint, to design a visual texture for our monsters’ body parts. Then, we learned about how adjectives in French are coordinated with the gender and number of the nouns they describe. We used adjectives to describe each part of our monsters.

We had four wonderful Scientists of the Week share their experiments. They presented with confidence and clarity, and all students practiced explaining their theories by answering “why?” when writing their conclusions.

We began learning about some of the elements that make up culture, and will be discussing and reflecting on this more in coming days.

8oz (240ml) Flint (Clear) Straight-Sided Cream Glass Jar (12 Pack) - 70-405 Neck | Bottlestore Bottlestore.comNext week, there are more celebrations to be had! On Tuesday, we will learn a little bit about the Day of the Dead, and on Thursday, we will learn about Diwali. We will be making colourful lanterns as an art project for Diwali, the festival of lights. If you have extra glass jars that would otherwise be recycled, please send them to school so we can turn them into beautiful lanterns! Mason jars, salsa or jam jars, or wide-mouthed pasta sauce jars would work excellently!

Photo retakes will be next Monday, November 1st.

Please click here to see the Brantford Division 9 Newsletter – November 2021. I will be sending home a paper copy on Monday.

Enjoy the weekend! Have a safe and healthy Halloween!

P.S. Division 3 is organizing a “Drop That Candy” candy drive, to share the wealth of the Halloween haul. They will be collecting packaged candy that is not labelled with Halloween images to be used for treat bags for charities. Please bring in any extra candy you wish to share any day next week. Thank you!
